LAID BACK LIGHT FIXTURES ROUND UP
One of my favorite things to shop for are light fixtures (rugs are a close second) and right now there are SO MANY good options out there that don’t break the bank – although chandeliers and pendant lights generally tend to be big-ticket items. Not only are light fixtures functional (as in you need light to see what you’re doing), they give you the opportunity to make a statement and set the mood in your space. Because a lot of folks who live in small or open-concept spaces are ditching the idea of a formal dining room, I put together a round up of my favorite pendant lights and chandeliers that are beautiful and modern but relaxed enough to work well in a casual, open-concept living space. But first, some inspiration.

I fantasize about living in this room and basking in that natural light all day long…aaaaahhhhh. Where was I? Oh yes, this lovely room from Amber Interiors featured in Domino. The light fixture brings your eye up to that tall, beautiful ceiling. Here is a similar version.

I love that these fixtures (above) speak to the black in the chairs but still feel light and airy.

This light fixture from Chris Loves Julia’s house tour is a modern take on a traditional chandelier and I’m into it. You can also remove the shades to give it a different look. I’ve been hunting for this fixture and unfortunately I think it’s discontinued but I did find one in stock here AND it’s half price. Hurry!

Rejuvenation (above) and School House Electric & Supply Co (below) never disappoint; they nail the modern yet laid-back, Pacific Northwest vibe.

Without further ado, here is a round up of some of my favorites that are under $1,000 (okay, there’s one in there that is slightly more but I had to sneak it in…let’s see if you can find it;). And if you are getting a new light fixture installed, do not forget to add a dimmer switch if you don’t already have one!
